LAST SCENE EPISODE 1
Our group is huddled around a table in a café, relaxing after a fight with the notorious Mont Lake Mafia. Knox is disguised in human form and is finishing his story of how his planet was taken over by the evil Sindota and how he was injured by his childhood friend, turned nemesis, Trell. KNOX: After Sindota enslaved my planet Iroas I was forced to flee or else be captured. It was completely by chance that I landed here, on this planet. I had never flown before so I just flipped random switches and bam. Now I’m here with you “earthlings.” CHAD: (Enthusiastically) Can you show us your true form?! RAEMAR: (TO CHAD) Chad… CHAD: What? I’m just curious is all. RAEMAR: Yeah I get that. But I don’t think it would be appropriate seeing Knox the way he is right now, especially out in public. CHAD: (Remembers that Knox is wounded) Right. RAEMAR: So what are your plans Knox? What are you going to do here on Earth? KNOX: I don’t know yet. I just lost everything so I don’t really care what happens now. I’m just fortunate to be alive. CHAD: (Rises up onto his feet) That does it. You’re living with me Knox! [After Raemar locked up the back door and Knox and Chad finished their meal, the three left the café into the empty parking lot. Chad insisted on seeing Knox’s true form. Since it was getting dark, and no one else seemed to be around, Knox walked in front of both of them and looked at his two new ‘earthling’ friends. The camera angle is now from Knox’s point of view and shows Raemar and Chad looking at Knox with their jaws dropped. The camera now cuts back to Knox, showing his true form to be a 6’6” purple squid humanoid with four tentacle arms.] THE WORDS “TO BE CONTINUED…” FLASH ACROSS THE SCREEN

The two had been climbing for what seemed like an eternity. They walked along the rocky cliffside, often staring out at the vast dark-blue ocean. Jhutrjel turned to Knox and said, “We’re almost there. I recognize this rock!” They were trekking up the mountain overlooking their village, Sai-Mat, only to dive into the ocean. It was Jhutrjel’s favorite pastime, but Knox was reluctant to do it since his father told him it was unsafe. “We’re here!” exclaimed Jhutrjel, “Get ready to jump!” Knox walked to the edge of the cliff and stared into the ocean, wondering if he should. He trusted Jhutrjel, though, who he called Trell. After all, they have been friends almost since birth and Trell has always gotten Knox out of his comfort zone. Together, they walked to the ledge of the tall cliff and dove off, putting their long tentacle arms beside them to enhance their freefall. They let out loud screams filled with excitement and exhilaration as they plunged into the water. As Knox and Trell strolled back to their village, Knox thought of his father, feeling a little guilty for jumping into the ocean. He knew his father wouldn’t find out, since he and his mother were always in the city on one of their political campaigns. Deep in the center of Iroas’ largest continent was the established capital city on the planet, a major trading hub and the home of the Iroas’ government. The City represents the undeniable technological progress the Iroasians have made, as it is much more advanced than the villages. All this is possible because of a powerful resource, named Lexicul.Lexicul was hidden beneath Iroas’ deep oceans, which, in high quantities, can power cities, vehicles, and other luxuries. Powerful people in The City, however, believed that Lexicul is finite in nature and will run out in the next few decades. Their solution is to fly to other planets in search of it. Based on scouting expeditions, they know that other planets in their immediate solar system have it, but in smaller quantities than they would like. Knox’s parents had been outspoken against going to other planets as a means of stealing resources, often traveling to The City to campaign against these issues and offer support to members of Iroas’ nine membered leadership council Most of these nine leaders are heads of villages or city leaders invested in politics and make the primary decisions for the planet’s direction. The current majority of leaders hold on to the core values of the villages, though their support has been weakening. When Knox and Trell got closer to their village, they saw one of the town’s most respected members, Kunel, approaching quickly. “Knox!” she called out, “I need to talk to you immediately…it’s your parents!” Knox thought that maybe they had arrived early, but he became worried by the heavy look on Kunel’s face. Kunel barely got the words out, “I'm so sorry to say this…your parents…died in The City today…it was a terrorist attack.” Knox felt his world crumble around him. He still had Trell, but now there was nobody to look after him. Knox, Trell, and Kunel walked to the center of the village, which had a screen that gave them announcements and information from The City. “Seven of the nine council leaders have died today in an explosion at the Expo Center, along with many others,” the more Knox looked at the screen the less he believed it. Later that night, Knox sat alone on the waterfront near his village and stared at the sky, wondering what was left for him. After a moment of pondering, he knew what he had to do. He grabbed as much of his belongings as he could and then took one last look at Sai-Mat, Trell’s hut, and his own, walking off into the night. Six years had passed since Knox had learned of his parents’ death. The Expo attack left Iroas’ government fractured and in a power vacuum. One of the remaining council members, Sindota, seized control of The City’s military garrison and led a coup. Sindota became the singular ruler over Iroas and announced plans to explore the reaches of space and plunder other planet’s quantities of Lexicul. The splintered remainder of the village idealists worked in the shadows to fight back against Sindota, although they were heavily outnumbered. Meanwhile, Knox lived alone in The City, using his unique abilities to survive. He planned to brazenly infiltrate the government building to face Sindota, the one he believed plotted to destroy the Expo. When the night finally came, Knox donned his brown armor and equipped himself for the stealth mission. He scaled the top of the three-story building and shot the two guards on the rooftop with his ink projectile. Then, he turned invisible and sneaked past four armed guards. Knox opened the rooftop window and jumped down into one of the building’s main corridors. Now inside, he sprinted down the hallway and knocked out a guard with his long arm, before rounding the corner to where Sindota’s office was located. Knox was finally ready to face the man who killed his parents. He listened through the door and heard a voice say, “We believe we have rounded up most of the dissidents and are moving forward with enslaving them.” Without a second thought, Knox burst through the door, revealing the voice to be his old friend, Trell, standing beside Sindota. “Trell!?” Knox said loudly, “What are you doing here? Sindota killed my parents!” Trell responded, “I should be asking you the same question, Knox. You abandoned our village and you’re here to what? Kill our great leader?” Knox couldn’t believe who he saw in front of him. It was as if this was a different person, not the Trell he knew. While Knox let his guard down, Trell shot Knox with a stun gun, incapacitating him. Sindota, standing over a weakened Knox, said in his booming voice, “You will pay for coming here, just like the rest of your village people did.” Knox’s naive revenge plot had failed, and he was about to be captured or even killed. With the last bit of energy he had left, Knox turned invisible. He limped up and decided to forget about killing Sindota, he would be lucky to leave alive. “Where’d he go?!” yelled Sindota. Trell had known Knox was able to turn invisible and tried to search for him in the room. Knox left the room and tried to find the hangar bay, which he knew was not far. His invisibility wore off as he got halfway down the hall. Trell saw him immediately and fired his gun several times at Knox, hitting him twice in his armor, which absorbed it. Knox turned and entered the hangar bay, running to the first ship in sight. He entered the ship, tossing aside one of the pilots standing adjacent to it. He had never flown before, but he understood the basic principle of the ignition and the accelerator. He flipped random switches and felt the ship roar to a start. It lifted into the air and he accelerated it out of the hangar. Trell looked on as Knox escaped. As Knox flew away, he thought to himself, “Maybe revenge isn’t the answer, I have no family and now no friends left here.” With new resolve, he decided to leave Iroas in search of a better life on another planet. He took one last look at Iroas, as it shrunk in the distance. |
