Synopsis of Comic Entry
It was opening night for the Seattle Kraken in Climate Pledge Arena and as a treat for all the heroic adventures Morph has been enduring with Chad and Raemar, they decided to attend the Seattle Kraken’s debut game. It has been about two months since Knox landed on earth and he finally found some time to relax and hang out with his new friends. Chad took Knox to the game while Raemar went with her friends and promised to meet them up at the food court during the first intermission of the game. Just as the opening ceremony was about to commence and the arena was pitch black, the audience heard this loud crack emanate from the ice rink. The crowd roared back as loud as they could, thinking they were welcoming their new team. The crack grew louder and louder until they felt this intense breeze radiate into the stands. The crowd continued to roar because they thought the crack and the cold air was supposed to represent the Kraken was “released.” But as the lights flickered to reveal the ice rink, they realized something was very wrong. The ice shattered. Chad had to explain to Knox that this is not normal and someone or something was responsible for it. This was also the first time Knox decided to act and told Chad that they needed to do something. Up to this point, it has always been Chad and/or Raemar that would tell Knox what to do because he is still unsure what it means to be a hero. But, in the corner of his eye, he distinctly spots the leader of the Mont Lake Mafia, Yersinia, in the front row, and quickly assumes that her crew must have been responsible for it since they always cause team Morph trouble. No matter where Team Morph was, the Mont Lake Mafia seemed to find a way in their presence. All of the sudden, Yersinia vanishes, so Knox tells Chad who he just saw and wanted to do something about it. Chad then texted Raemar to meet them up in front of the restrooms and that “operation extermination” was a go. Operation extermination was just code for their battle plan when confronting the Mont Lake Mafia. They have faced them so many times the past two months that they were able to pick up on their habits and weaknesses and created a fool-proof plan in stopping the Mont Lake Mafia no matter where they face them.
Right on queue, just as Raemar was about to turn the corner, Knox and Chad spot Norve, Bandi, and Roo, the rest of the Mont Lake Mafia, right behind Raemar. Chad and Knox both retreat into the restroom and Knox immediately turns invisible—not only that, but he is able to mask any and all odor and sound he emits. He slowly comes out, aims his beak, and shoots his sticky ink snot at Norve’s face. But it doesn’t work this time because Roo was able to anticipate that shot and intercept it with his “tail”—his braided hair. Roo was able to sense the air pressure change as the snot came closer and closer and instinctively pinpoints the threat. Bandi then rushes towards Raemar with the intention of taking her as their hostage. Norve finally locates Knox by indiscriminately shedding and propelling his hair down the corridor to outline the whereabouts of Knox. In doing so, it became the perfect distraction for Bandi and easily captured Raemar. However, Knox also took advantage of the chaos as he shapeshifted into Roo in order to confuse the other two. (Roo was the closest to Knox and since Norve did his attack, no one was able to clearly see what was happening). Roo tried to prove he was the real Roo, but Norve trusted Knox more and unfortunately made a costly decision and incapacitated his own teammate. Knox was able to take a clean shot at Norve’s face with his ink snot and now it’s just down to Bandi. Chad finally emerged from the restroom to help Knox rescue Raemar from Bandi. He used his laser pointer to try and distract Bandi while Knox turned invisible again. He comes in from behind, knocks out Bandi, and saves Raemar. But then Yersinia appears and starts to cry. Knox was primed to attack her next but she called out to him “Stop!” She then explained that they were only there to watch the game like everyone else and to strengthen her argument, they all heard blood curdling screams coming from the rink. This is when Knox realizes that the Mont Lake Mafia had nothing to do with the ice shattering.
